To start, how would you introduce yourself as an artist? You’ve had a long career.
I’m Takeru, from Tokyo. Hello! Thank you for your support.
What inspired you to create Takeru’s Club House? Tell us a little more about the project.
Lately, my music has drawn inspiration not only from J-pop, but also from techno and hip-hop. I mix a lot of genres. That combination, together with the events I wanted to put on in Latin America, gave me the idea. I didn’t want to offer just a live show. I wanted to include a DJ set as well. I think that works especially well when we perform abroad, like today.
You’ve come straight from Latin America. How were the shows there?
They were a lot of fun. One of my favourite memories is from São Paulo: after the show, the club stayed open until five in the morning. The DJ, the crew, the fans and I all stayed. Everyone was there until dawn. It was a great experience.
You were due to come to Spain last year, but it didn’t work out. What does it mean to finally meet your fans here?
I’m very happy. Last year, I was ready to perform in Spain and Slovakia, but the shows were cancelled. I was really disappointed, and I promised myself and my fans that I would try again. Just one year later, I’ve made it happen, so I’m very happy. Thank you so much.
Now that you’re in Spain, is there anywhere you’d like to visit?
The Sagrada Família. It’s almost finished, isn’t it? I really want to see it. I’d also like to discover Barcelona’s music scene. I might go.
After performing in Latin America and now Spain, have you thought about making a song in Spanish or collaborating with an artist from Spain or Latin America?
Yes, I’d really like to. In fact, Spanish and Latin American music has already inspired some of my songs. I’ve always explored club music, and I think there are so many different styles in Spain and Latin America. Last year, we made “AFTER THROUGH THE DARK” with a producer from India. In the near future, I’d like to make a song with a producer from Spain or Latin America.
On your 19th anniversary as an artist, you said you had already written 200 songs. Where do you find the inspiration to write so many?
It doesn’t come only from music. I watch films, and I travel to other countries on tours like this one. I think this tour will give me new ideas.
In 2027, you’ll celebrate your 20th anniversary as an artist. Are you planning anything special?
It’s difficult to say. I have a lot of plans, but I can’t reveal everything yet. That might be a hint. To me, reaching twenty years feels almost like a miracle. It’s hard to believe I’ve been able to keep making music for so long. I’m very grateful to my team and my fans. I’m preparing lots of surprises for next year, so please wait a little longer.
