DAMNED in Madrid: Visual Kei Lands at Sala Silikona
Europe Tour 2025 JUKAI (Madrid, Sala Silikona)
November 30, 2025
DAMNED is one of those bands that, in just a few years, has established itself as a key name in Japan’s new generation of metal.
Formed in Tokyo in 2022, their sound blends metalcore, industrial, and post-hardcore into something they define as “loudcore,” supported by a dark and strongly theatrical identity.
On stage, everything intensifies.
Makeup, outfits, lighting, and energy come together in a way that turns their live shows into more than just concerts, creating an experience that feels close to cinematic.
With this balance between musical chaos and carefully crafted aesthetics, DAMNED has stepped beyond Japan as one of the most compelling acts in today’s visual kei scene.
At 20:20, the entrance SE signaled the beginning of something the audience had been waiting for.

MASAYA appeared first behind the drums, but it was Sakura’s entrance that triggered the first real wave of cheers. Surrounded by the venue lights and a sea of raised phones, the walk toward the stage felt almost like stepping onto a red carpet.
Suica greeted the crowd calmly before taking position, and as soon as Hitone stepped into the center, the opening notes of “SET ME FIRE” filled the room.
From that moment on, Sala Silikona was completely taken over. Jumping, headbanging, and a crowd that didn’t hesitate for a second to give itself fully to the performance.
When Kou moved toward the edge of the stage alongside Sakura, the entire floor responded by stepping forward almost instinctively, as if moving together in formation. During the breakdown, both guitarists crossed paths with precise timing, every movement controlled.
The song closed with “WE ARE DAMNED,” and the audience answered by raising their fists toward the ceiling.

“Shadows” showed a different side of the band, more lyrical and closer to the classic visual kei aesthetic. The audience, already fully engaged, adapted naturally to the shift in dynamics.
It was during “Revenir” that Hitone broke the fourth wall for the first time, calling out “HOLA, MAKE SOME NOISE!” and instantly raising the energy in the room. The applause grew so loud that, at times, it nearly overtook the band itself.

Among the crowd, a young girl, no older than six or seven, watched the stage with wide eyes. A small but powerful reminder that music does not belong to any single age.
“ShoKu -蝕-” raised the intensity immediately, marking a clear turning point in the first half of the show.
Created in collaboration with guitarist Cazqui, the track delivered exactly what the European audience had been expecting.
The crowd gave everything, only briefly easing during the guitar solo in the middle of the song, a short moment that felt like a breath of air before the energy surged again.
As the song ended, Hitone asked, “ARE YOU READY?”
Sakura continued with the MC, bringing a more relaxed tone to the moment. Talking about wanting to try paella and praising Spanish food, the exchange quickly turned into laughter. When someone in the crowd shouted “TORTILLA DE PATATAS!”, referring to Spain’s classic potato omelette, Sakura tried to repeat it, laughing a little and admitting the pronunciation wasn’t easy.

“Fla:ill” highlighted the duality that defines DAMNED. Violence and calm alternated naturally within Hitone’s vocal range, creating a moment that many in the audience seemed to want to capture, with phones gradually appearing across the room.
“Poada” offered the only real pause of the night, shifting into an a cappella section and inviting the audience to follow the rhythm with claps.

After the interlude SE, “Thanatosis” and “VELTRO” opened the darkest section of the performance.
The red lighting during “VELTRO” transformed Sala Silikona into something far more intense, almost resembling the gates of hell, while MASAYA’s drumming leaned closer to pure hardcore than traditional visual kei.
It felt like a clear statement of intent.
What followed was the most anticipated track of the night. From the very first notes of “醉狂と交わる強迫的価値観” the reaction was immediate.
Without any instruction, the entire crowd moved into synchronized headbanging, as if it had been prepared in advance.
The live lighting added layers that go beyond the studio version, with a single overhead light surrounding the five members and giving them an almost otherworldly presence from the floor.
After six intense minutes, Hitone closed the song with a simple “gracias, Madrid,” leaving a clear sense of satisfaction in the room.
“Dokuai” brought one of the most iconic moments of the night. Kou dived into the crowd and, after returning to the stage, stood side by side with Suica, guitar against guitar, in a scene reminiscent of classic visual kei performances from the 2000s.
The headbanging during this track stretched longer than at any other point in the show.
“Beauveria” closed the main set with Hitone shouting “LAST SONG! THANKS FOR COMING!”

Sakura, now more composed, expressed gratitude to the audience and shared how long it had been a goal to perform in Europe.
The encore began with “ArtrA” and “ANHEDONIA” drawing the audience back into the performance, arms raised and fully engaged.
“Yani” showed the maturity of the current lineup, built since the addition of Hitone and Suica, with a sense of weight and cohesion that only comes with time.
“STAIN” began quietly among the applause, with electronic elements and growls gradually building the atmosphere once again.

The final track, “Grimnir” closed the night with a more classical structure, even hinting at influences reminiscent of LUNA SEA within its riffs.
A fitting ending for any fan of Japanese metal.
To close the night, DAMNED invited the audience to take a group photo together.
A simple gesture, but one that captured the energy and connection shared in that moment.

This concert became a true point of reunion.
Familiar faces from Spain’s visual kei scene met a new generation, creating a space that felt more alive than ever. Exactly what was needed.
There is no doubt that DAMNED will continue to evolve.
And Madrid is already waiting for what comes next.
